Flyers Sign C Max Talbot
The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed 5-11, 190-lb free agent C Max Talbot to a multi-year contract, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Talbot, 27 (2/11/84), comes to the Flyers from the Pittsburgh Penguins, who drafted the Lemoyne, Quebec native in the 8th round (232nd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in all 82 games for the Penguins last year, recording eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points. Talbot posted 52 goals and 56 assists for 108 points in 388 career games over six seasons with Pittsburgh, while accumulating 324 PIM. He also scored 12 shorthanded goals during his time with the Penguins, which ties him for fourth all-time in Penguins franchise history.

Talbot was the hero of Pittsburgh’s 2009 Stanley Cup championship, scoring both goals in the Penguins’ 2-1 win over Detroit in Game 7 of that year’s Stanley Cup Final. He has posted a total of 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points in 66 career playoff games for Pittsburgh. His postseason experience dates back prior to his NHL career – he appeared in 22 Calder Cup playoff games in two seasons with the American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. During his junior career, Talbot recorded 44 points (14G, 30A) in 20 playoff games to lead Hull (QMJHL) to the Memorial Cup Final in 2003. The following season, he posted 30 points (13-17-30) in 20 games to lead QMJHL Gatineau to the 2004 Memorial Cup Final. Original-Meldung
