Lightning Re-Sign D Marc-Andre Bergeron
The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron to a two-year, one-way contract today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.

“We are pleased to keep Marc-Andre in the organization,” Yzerman said. “He played particularly well for us during the playoffs and his passing skills, as well as his shot, make him a valuable contributor to our team. We look forward to having him at training camp.”

Bergeron, 5-foot-9, 198 pounds, appeared in 23 games with the Lightning last season. He was signed as a free agent on January 4 and assigned to the Norfolk Admirals of American Hockey League where he recorded two goals and eight points in 13 games. Bergeron was recalled to the Lightning on February 5 and spent the remainder of the season in Tampa Bay, recording two goals and eight points, including one game-winning goal. He recorded two assists in his Lightning debut on February 6 against St. Louis and became the third player in franchise history to score his first Lightning goal in overtime (Millar, Gagne) on February 12 versus Carolina. weiterlesen

Carolina sends Adam Hall and a seventh-round pick to Lightning for defenseman

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron (BAIR-zhur-uhn) from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Adam Hall and a seventh-round pick in the 2013 Draft.

“Marc-Andre is a skilled, veteran defenseman who has made a good career out of helping teams on the power play,” said Rutherford.

Bergeron, 32, is in his 10th NHL season and has earned five points (1g, 4a) in 12 games for the Lightning this season. The Trois-Rivieres, Que., native was in his third season with the Lightning, after leading Tampa Bay defensemen in points (24) and power-play points (9) in 43 games last season.

Bergeron (5’9”, 190 lbs.) has totaled 82 goals, 149 assists (231 points) and 209 penalty minutes in 477 career NHL games with Edmonton, the New York Islanders, Anaheim, Minnesota, Montreal and Tampa Bay. Originally signed by the Oilers as an undrafted free agent on July 20, 2001, Bergeron established career highs with the Oilers in 2006, when he scored 15 goals, including eight power-play tallies, and 35 points in 75 games played. Bergeron has appeared in 57 career Stanley Cup playoff games, including deep playoff runs with Edmonton (2006), Montreal (2010) and Tampa Bay (2011), totaling 15 points (7g, 8a).

Die ZSC Lions freuen sich, die Verpflichtung des 32-jährigen Verteidigers Marc-André Bergeron bekanntgeben zu dürfen. Der Kanadier unterschrieb bei den Löwen einen 3-Jahres-Vertrag. Marc-André Bergeron wechselt aus der NHL von den Carolina Hurricanes zu den ZSC Lions. Dort absolvierte er in der letzten Saison 13 Spiele, nachdem er im Februar 2013 von den Tampa Bay Lightning zu Carolina gestossen war. Insgesamt trug der 1.78 Meter grosse und 86 Kilogramm schwere Verteidiger 547 mal das Trikot einer NHL-Mannschaft (89 Tore, 161 Assists). Bergeron verfügt über ein gutes Passspiel und gilt als Powerplay-Spezialist mit einem harten Schuss. 2000/01 erzielte der Linksschütze in der Québec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) die meisten Skorerpunkte aller Verteidiger. Von der Canadian Hockey League (CHL), dem Dachverband der drei Juniorenligen, wurde Bergeron in der gleichen Saison als Verteidiger des Jahres ausgezeichnet und ins erste All Star Team gewählt. 2002/03 durfte er Teil des zweiten All Star Teams der AHL sein.
