Veteran net-minder signs for final five games of the regular season
The New York Islanders announced today that goaltender John Grahame has agreed to terms on an NHL contract for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, pending a physical.

Grahame, 36, has played in 224 career NHL games with the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes during his 13-year professional career. Last season, he played for the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League.

A native of Denver, CO, Grahame has 97 career NHL wins with a 2.79 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. He’s appeared in six career NHL playoff games and was a member of the 2004 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

On the international stage, Grahame represented the United States at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and at the 1996 and 2007 World Championships.

Grahame played his junior hockey with the United States Hockey League’s Sioux City Musketeers, where he served as the goaltending coach this past season. The 6’2, 210 pound goalie played his collegiate hockey at Lake Superior State. The Boston Bruins selected Grahame in the ninth round, 229th overall, of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
